The autonomous future is rapidly becoming a reality. The IAA, deploys autonomous systems to demonstrate that individuals can be assured of their reliability, their resilience against attack, the correctness of the actions they take, and knowing that their lives and careers are enhanced and improved by these systems. Johns Hopkins leads at the intersection of developing autonomous systems and cybersecurity, and it is critical that individuals and society have a confident sense of assurance in the deployment and operation of autonomous systems. Any misstep will likely slow down or even block development that would otherwise improve lives in terms of health, environment, safety, and overall quality of life. The IAA inspires and enables multidisciplinary research and translation on new assurance approaches for autonomy, including in three very relevant applied research areas for the future autonomous world – transportationpublic safety and emergency response, and health systems.
