Jim Bellingham, executive director of the Johns Hopkins Institute for Assured Autonomy and Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Exploration Robotics, will be honored by the Whiting School of Engineering for his 2021 induction to the National Academy of Engineering. He joins nearly 2,700 NAE members from around the world who have distinguished themselves in engineering disciplines related to business, higher education, government, and industry. The NAE’s induction ceremonies for 2020 and 2021 were postponed due to the pandemic.
Bellingham also has a primary appointment in the WSE’s Department of Mechanical Engineering, and at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory’s Asymmetric Operations Sector.
The Whiting School of Engineering will host a celebration next month to honor JHU’s most recent inductees. Bellingham joins Yannis Kevrekidis, Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and Applied Mathematics and Statistics, and Russell Taylor, the John C. Malone Professor in the Department of Computer Science.
