Institute for Assured Autonomy Principal Investigator Chien-Ming Huang was awarded the National Science Foundation’s Early CAREER Award, the NSF’s most prestigious award to recognize early career scholars with high levels of promise and excellence. The award supports early-career faculty with the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization. Chien-Ming works for the IAA as Principal Investigator on the Socially Aware Robot Navigation in Human Environments project. His CAREER award, titled “End-user robot programming by multi-modal instruction,” will bring assistive robots to people by enabling average users to instruct them to help complete useful daily tasks.
