Ashutosh Dutta, a chief 5G strategist and sabbatical fellow at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory, has been selected to receive a 2025 Exemplary Global Service Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Communications Society and the Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences. The annual award honors IEEE members for their outstanding and long-term service in fostering and advancing globalization within the communications arena.
Faculty in Johns Hopkins University’s Information Security Institute and Institute for Assured Autonomy, Dutta was recognized for his work on promoting global awareness and participation in next-generation communications technology.
With a career spanning over 30 years, Dutta is the author of more than 120 technical papers and 31 issued patents and has served as co-chair and co-founder of multiple IEEE initiatives, forums, and conferences. He additionally directs the Whiting School of Engineering’s Doctor of Engineering program, is an associate research professor in the Department of Computer Science, and is a member of the Johns Hopkins Data Science and AI Institute.
Dutta’s accomplishments will be recognized at the 2026 IEEE International Conference on Communications awards ceremony, to take place on Monday, May 26 in Glasgow, Scotland.
